Frequently asked questions
Is Nijam a full alternative to Zoho Books?
Not for full accounting yet. Nijam Invoicing covers invoices, quotes, credit notes, recurring drafts, AR ageing, collections and GSTR-1 export, with each entity in its own currency. Invoices don't post to a general ledger automatically yet, and bank feeds and IRN e-invoicing are not live, so keep your accounting system for books. Nijam also adds modules Zoho Books doesn't cover: agreements (Seal), hiring (Hire), HR and payroll computation (Pulse), and tax-form preparation (Taxia).
Can I migrate from Zoho Books to Nijam?
Partly. Customers, items and invoices can be imported from CSV. Payment history and chart-of-accounts mapping are not imported yet, so talk to us before you move a year of history.
Does Nijam support GST + e-invoicing (IRN + e-way bill)?
Not yet. Nijam calculates the CGST/SGST/IGST split and exports GSTR-1 JSON (B2B, B2CL, B2CS, exports, credit notes) for you to upload on the GST portal. IRN e-invoicing and e-way bill generation are not live.
Does Nijam generate 1099-NEC and W-2 forms?
It prepares them. Nijam Taxia generates 1099-NEC and W-2 PDFs and tracks W-9s, using the 1099 threshold for the payment year. It does not e-file with the IRS or SSA yet: you or your CPA file them.
Is Zoho Books cheaper than Nijam?
Per product, Zoho Books may well cost less. Compare it with everything else you would pay for alongside it - e-signature, a hiring tool, HR and payroll - and see our pricing page for current plans.
Where does Zoho Books still win?
Zoho Books has deeper inventory management (multi-warehouse, SKU-level FIFO/LIFO, barcode scanning) for product-heavy retail / e-commerce businesses. If inventory is your core workflow, Zoho Books is the better accounting choice - you can still use Nijam for the modules around it. For shop billing, Nijam Counter does barcode billing and counter stock. Available in India.
